The RAS.V518PCDIBT of Hitachi is not a snail either with an ISEER of 5.6 and a yearly consumption of 690.72 kWh. It is a small difference in your actual electricity bills, about 100200 a year, depending on your tariff.
Where the things part a little further is in the secondary models. Daikin ATKM50UV16VA has an ISEER of 5.2 (785.99 kWh) and the Hitachi 5700XXL has 5.1 (823.18 kWh). They both remain 5 star rated, although the difference in annual consumption increases to more than 35 kWh.

How does it work?

How does it work?
The Xpandable inverter will boost its RPM above normal when and where necessary, and automatically adjust to actual ambient conditions outside and inside the room. This is so that during hot summer months, the AC will work extra hard to keep you comfortable without you needing to adjust any settings.
Hitachi is also equipped with iceClean technology which is powered by FrostWash. This cleaning system is self-cleaning and operates in three phases, which are Freeze, Melt, and Dry. The moisture is first condensed and dust trapped on the frost of the coil by FrostWash. The frost then melts and empties the trapped dust in the indoor unit coil. Lastly, the coil is dried by a blower and is clean and thus prepared to operate effectively.
What is the superior cooling technology?
Although it is hard to say that one technology is certainly superior to another, they have their arguments.
Pros
- Daikin Swing Inverter Compressor: The compressor has less friction and vibration, resulting in less noise (as low as 27 dB on the 1.0 Ton 3 Star model) and energy savings that are consistent over time.
- Xpandable+ technology available in Hitachi can extend the cooling capacity (up to 110112 percent) which is especially handy in times of extreme heat waves when you need all the cooling power you can get.
Cons
- Daikin Coanda Airflow is also effective in uniform distribution but it only directs the air upwards along the ceiling. This might not be as cool at first glance as direct airflow in some room designs.

How loud are Daikin and Hitachi AC’s?

Daikin’s indoor unit has copper coil. Its fins will also be visible without coating. Ok so all said and done, to the point, do you buy the Daikin or the Hitachi air conditioner?
The Daikin may be best if you:
- Want the quietest operation: In all similar models, Daikin always operates quieter than Hitachi. The Daikin 1.5 Ton 5 Star has a noise of only 31 dB(A) as opposed to 37 dB(A) of the Hitachi, and thus the Daikin would be more suitable in bedrooms, study rooms or any other area where noise is an issue.
- Need the highest energy efficiency: Daikin has slightly higher values in both 3 Star and 5 Star (5.7 vs. 5.6 and 4.4 vs. 4.3). Although the difference is minimal, it would lead to reduced energy consumption per year and savings on electricity bills in the long run.
- Requirement of extreme heat performance: The 5 Star models of Daikin have the ability to retain their full cooling capacity at 46 °C, and can operate at temperatures up to 55 °C, which makes it superior in the hottest parts of India where ambient temperatures often exceed 43C.
- Want high-tech self-cleaning: Daikin Dew Clean Technology will operate automatically, but the iceClean by Hitachi will have to be turned on manually. Daikin is more suited in case you want a more hands-off approach to maintenance.
- Prefer a cheaper price: Daikin is 1.5 Ton 5 Star around Rs. 43,990, which is about 1,500 cheaper than the similar model of Hitachi.
The Hitachi may be best if you:
- Desire increased cooling capacity: The Xpandable+ technology in the Hitachi can provide up to 110-112 percent of rated cooling capacity when the demand of the conditions requires it. This additional cooling capacity may be felt in a place where the heat is excessive or in a room that is always hot.
- Want more airflow control: 4 Way Swing and 24m long air throw in the Hitachi mean that the air gets to all the corners of the room, both horizontally and vertically. This is especially applicable in bigger or irregular shaped rooms where even distribution of air is a problem.
- Desire custom presets: The My Mode feature of the Hitachi allows saving up to 3 custom settings with your favourite temperature, fan speed, timer, and silent mode settings. It is a convenience option that is not provided by Daikin, and hence Hitachi is an option when the family members have varied preferences regarding cooling.
