Daikin vs. Hitachi AC – What’s the Difference?
When it comes to cooling speed, Hitachi ACs have a slight edge over Daikin, with the ability to throw air up to 24 meters for quicker cooling, blower size is a little bigger than Daikin, there is not much difference. However, Daikin ACs outperform Hitachi in terms of uniform cooling and energy efficiency, being 8–10% more energy-efficient. Both brands employ inverter technology and auto-convertible modes, which allow the ACs to automatically adapt cooling capacity in response to temperature fluctuations, such as when additional people enter the room.
Daikin vs. Hitachi AC Comparison Chart
In the table below, you’ll find a breakdown of the major similarities and differences between Daikin and Hitachi air conditioners.

How do Daikin and Hitachi AC Cool a 180 sq. ft room
Daikin ACs has the ability to cool down 180 sq. ft room under 15 minutes. But, how it achieve? They have special “PowerChill Mode” it is only found in Daikin. But how does it function? Let’s say you’ve set your remote to 23°C with the airflow at medium. When you activate PowerChill, the fan will automatically switch to high speed, maintaining the set temperature of 23°C. After some time, the temperature will drop to 18°C for enhanced cooling.

How long will it come? For 20 minutes, this option of Power Chill will work.
After 20 minutes, the temperature will be 23 and air flow will be set medium again, which you had set earlier. So, Power Chill means that the AC will do the use the maximum colling capacity around 5000 watts, since the Daikin 1.5 Ton AC has 5280 Watt. Same kind of cooling mechanism you will find in Hitachi AC’s as well, they given name “Powerful”.
In 180 square foot room, Outdoor temperature is around 40°C, and Indoor Temperature is around 38°C, Daikin MTKM50U AC achieved, desired the temperature to 25°C, this AC achieved a temperature of 26°C in 14 minutes. In similar condition Hitachi 5400FXL RAS.G518PCBIBF model also shown reduced the indoor temperature from 39°C to 26°C, achieving a 12°C drop in 14 minutes. So, what I have found both models perform well in cooling a 180 square foot room.
Who has better Air Flow?
In Daikin AC, they use Coanda Airflow. So, what is Conda Airflow? It gives you up to down side cooling, that is, it gives corner to corner cooling. In its MTKM50U model, they are providing Airflow Rate around 593 ft³/min. So, what is Airflow Rate means? The volume of air the AC unit can circulate per minute, measured in cubic feet. At 593 ft³/min, living room measuring around 180-210 square feet. a ceiling height of approximately 8-10 feet, this airflow rate ensures the air is circulated evenly across the room.

In Hitachi’s 1.5 Ton 5400FXL RAS.G518PCBIBF Model shows around 530 ft³/min, you can the 63 ft³/min difference may have a small effect on air circulation, but it’s so slight that you’re unlikely to notice it.
In Daikin model you will also find 3D Airflow. What is the work of 3D Airflow? In this AC, there are two flappers. When it runs, it gives 3D Airflow from front and gives left to right cooling and 4-way automatic uniform cooling at every corner of your room for a great air conditioning experience.
In the Hitachi 5400FXL RAS.G518PCBIBF, you’ll notice a similar airflow design, but the swing is limited to 2-way (up and down) with no horizontal motion, I feel a minor drawback. However, this issue has been addressed in their 2025 model, the 5400STXL RAS.G518PCCIBT, which now includes a 4-way swing for improved functionality.

In Daikin AC’s I have seen they are also providing high air through. You will find Air Throw around 16.8 m³/min, so what does it mean? The distance the AC can push cooled air, at 16.8 m³/min, the unit is designed to project air over approximately 25 feet in length, this air throw capability ensures that the cooled air can reach the farthest corners.
Hitachi AC delivers a higher airflow of approximately 24 m³/min, surpassing Daikin’s 16.8 m³/min by 7.2 m³/min. This leads to marginally faster cooling in “Powerful” mode.
Due to which corner to corner cooling flows in the room and you get uniform cooling inside the room.
Convertible Mode
Although Dekin does not say auto-convertible, but it works according to the auto-convertible feature. Because it adjusts the cooling according to its own and while sensing. Means, it automatically increases or decreases the speed of the compressor. So that the cooling is maintained in your room and the electricity expense is always kept in check.
That is, if there are more members in the room, then it automatically runs from 5000W to 5280W.
Hitachi AC also gives you the option of expandable mode. What is here, it does not give convertible here. It is called an expandable type, which automatically senses and automatically lowers its capacity. So, what is in expandable, it goes close to 110%. You can use the air conditioner in less capacity If you have a high cooling requirement, then you can use the air conditioner in more capacity.
Its maximum cooling capacity, goes close to 5300W. If we talk about how it works, it sees what is the temperature inside the room and what is the presence and absence inside, then it adjusts the cooling according to that. We call it expandable.
Display
Display
You get a display in it, which we call a triple display. What happens in a triple display? Friends, in this, as you have seen, the triple display is inside the AC. So, what happens in this? In this, error coding, temperature and percentage are shown, which tells you what is the problem in the AC, what is the temperature, what is the percentage.
In Hitachi AC, you get ambient light and this light changes its colour according to the temperature.
Energy Efficiency
You may be aware that convertible ACs are good for energy efficiency, but Daikin is a brand that focuses on high-speed cooling. As I said above, they do use inverter technology but it is not convertible. It automatically reduces the power consumption once it reaches the desired temperature. You get a rotary compressor in 5-star model MTKM50U, which is tested at about 54°C and 3 star model MTKL50U tested for 52°C.
ISSER Rating Comparison
This MTKM50U model Split AC with a 5.2 ISEER rating saves up to 30% energy during 4-hour usage. At 100% cooling capacity, it uses 5280 watts, but only 2640 watts at 50%. Cooling indoor temperatures above 38°C consumes 25% more energy compared to cooling below 32°C. I have also seen in 1.5 Ton MTKL50U model, this Split AC, with an ISEER rating of 4, excels in energy efficiency. It uses 5000 watts at 100% cooling capacity and 2500 watts at 50%. Power input is about 1200-1325W in 3-star model.
They have unique fast cooling technology, they call it “Power Chill operation” which I have discussed above, also they claim 20% faster as compared to the normal model. During a 4-hour usage, it saves up to 30% energy compared to model whose ISEER rating below 3.8. Cooling indoor temperatures above 39°C consumes 40% more energy than cooling below 34°C, wasting approximately 2 units of electricity. Its advanced inverter technology adjusted power consumption by monitoring number of person and temperature inside the room, shows reducing energy consumption by 15-20% annually.
This G518PCBIBF 1.5 Ton Split AC, with an ISEER rating of 5, shown same energy-efficiency if compare it to MTKM50U model. You get this air conditioner of Hitachi with the Expendable Plus feature That is, you will get a convertible cooling mode in addition to 100% capacity. It uses 4900 watts at 100% cooling capacity and 2450 watts at 50%. During a 4-hour usage, it shows similar energy saving comparing with Daikin MTKM50U model, which is around 30%. Cooling indoor temperatures above 40°C consumes 20% more energy than cooling below 33°C, reducing waste 0.7 unit.
This G318PCBIBF AC has a star rating of 3.82 And according to the star rating parameter, it consumes 1012.62 units.
Talking about cooling capacity, in the iKasu model, you will get 100% cooling capacity of 5200W. This split AC delivers impressive energy savings with its 3.82 ISEER rating. At peak performance I have seen, it uses 5000W for 100% cooling capacity, while operating at 50% capacity consumes just 250 0W. When cooling indoor temperatures from above 38°C, it uses approximately 30% more energy compared to cooling below 34°C, same if I compare it with 1.5 Ton MTKL50U. During a 4-hour operation, the unit saves up to 25% energy through its variable speed compressor.
In real life it varies, it depends upon your outside temperature.
Noise Level
In Daikin Ac you will get a swing inverter compressor. Because of this, there is less friction and noise in the compressor. And the blower in the indoor unit also works very silently. Noise Level in their 1.5 Ton model MTKL50U and MTKM50U indoor unit have similar type of noise level on High, Medium and low speed: 48, 43 and 38 dB. You may wonder why low speed shows around 38 dB. Its fan produces little noice.
Hitachi’s air conditioner makes a little noise That too at the initial stage. But it doesn’t make so much noise.
You get silent air. Silent air means that its blower is big and comes with a wave design. What happens in the wave design? Its blower is made sharp like a blade and is made in the wave design.
That is, whenever the AC will run and give you air through the front, then what will happen in that condition, the sound of its air will be reduced. That is, the noise level will be reduced. That is why it is also called silent air. When running at high speed, it measures around 50 dB. On medium speed, the sound level is about 40 dB, and on low speed, it reduces to roughly 34 dB.
Smart Features:
Heat Exchange auto clean
Daikins have automatic clean the indoor heat exchange unit, they gave the name Dew Clean Technology. So, what you are getting? It rid of bacteria, moulds and other unwanted particles. Also, get smart diagnosis, such features, and along with it.
Similar features you will get in Hitachi AC’s as well, they gave name Ice Clean technology, it cleans the cooling walls of the indoor unit.
You Got get a hexa sensor in it. The work of a hexa sensor is to sense indoors and outdoors that there is no problem in the AC.
There are 6 sensors that work step to step in the AC. If there is any problem in the AC, it detects it.
Dust control comparison
You also get PM 2.5 filter in it, which also deactivates the fungus and bacteria in the dust particles of the room. Along with this, you also get the option of 3-stage filtration in it. That is, you get an HD filter in it, along with the PM 2.5 filter, which gives a type of pure air. In Hitachi AC, you will also find similar antibacterial shield, they use “SuperFine Mesh Filter”, filter traps fine air particles 2.5 microns in width.
So, how this will beneficial for you? If the dust particles are coming in it, which you are cleaning daily to daily, then its work is to give you pure air in the room. you will get auto clean technology.
Copper pipes
The indoor unit of Daikin also comes with a copper coil. Its fins will also be visible without coating. And look at its C-bands and U-bands, there is a chemical coating on both the evaporator and condenser coils of Daikin so that sediment and salt do not accumulate on them. But the company says that we do anti-corrosive coating.
Now it is possible that they do the transparent one. After that, I will tell you about the insulation.
You will not get any coating on the pipes. Here you will see that it is a double row copper coil.
In Hitachi, AC’s I have seen they also providing double row copper coil like Daikin, you will find anti-corrosive coating, they are calling it “powder coating” on the copper pipes.
Inbuilt stabilizer
Daikin’s Stabilizer Inside operation regulates voltage across a wide range of fluctuation (130V-285V) and helps ensuring smooth operations during voltage fluctuations.
In Hitachi AC’s you will get two types of models iKASU and YOSHI. In both these ACs, you get a tropical design inverter compressor. In this air conditioner you get the feature of inbuilt stabilizer free operation Whose voltage range you will get from 130 volts to 265 volts. This means that this air conditioner will cool very well in this voltage range If there is power up and down in your area. Then you don’t need to install a separate stabilizer in this air conditioner but if you don’t know exactly how much power is going up or down. Then I will recommend you to install a good company’s stabilizer with this air conditioner Because there are all the safety features in the individual stabilizer Which protect your air conditioner from power.
Indoor and outdoor unit comparison
In Daikin’s MTKM50U air conditioner, you will get an indoor unit weighing 11 kg. Why 11 kg? The indoor unit has double row copper pipes (C Band) and good quality plastic. The outdoor unit has a heavy, good quality double row copper condenser with Blue Fin technology weighing about 32.5 kg. So, Daikin has not compromised on cooling.
In Hitachi air conditioner, you will get an indoor unit of 10 kg, which is made of very good metal And if I talk about the outdoor unit, it is a very heavy outdoor unit Which you get of 27.4 kg and if we look at its quality, then you get a very good quality.
Reasons to avoid both the AC’s

In direct sunlight, there we felt that we should run it at 100% capacity with convertible options or sometimes only run it at 50% and test it. We could not do that. I could only turn it on or off.
