03. Smart Features Comparison
Both Blue Star and Voltas air conditioners have a lot of smart features making them strong contenders in the market.

Is self diagnosis available on Each model?
Ans – Yes.
They have intelligently designed features like hidden display, self diagnosis for easy trouble shooting, turbo cool that can reduce temperature by 10 degrees in 15 minutes.
Both have eco mode for energy efficiency, dry mode for humidity control and sleep mode for customized nighttime comfort.
Acoustic insulation available on each model?
Answer – Yes.
Acoustic insulation in the compressor makes it quiet and sensors intelligently adjusts cooling based on inside and outside temperature.
Are convertible modes available on each model?
Voltas edges out the competition here as it has improved convertible cooling technology. While older models like Vectra CAR and Vectra Elite had 4-in-1 convertible mode, the latest 2025 Vertis Smart Elite Gold has 5-in-1 convertible cooling mode.
This upgrade makes it as versatile as Blue Star’s models and meets diverse cooling needs without compromise. The additional cooling settings provides more adaptability especially for spaces with varied usage.
Voltas Vertis Smart Elite Gold also has upgrade in usability like upgraded remote interface that makes mode switching more intuitive, gold coated condenser for more durability and longer cooling effect that you won’t find in older Voltas models or comparable Blue Star models.
It also has edge in energy saving as it uses improved inverter technology to consume less power over extended use.
Blue Star needs to innovate more in 5-in-1 convertible cooling technology which relies on combination of two remote buttons that feels less seamless compared to Voltas latest offerings.
Another feature that I liked in Voltas was the gold condenser which makes it more efficient and longer lasting and is best for regions with high humidity or salinity.
04. Noise and Fan Speed
I gave the Blue Star 1.5 Ton Z Smart Wi-Fi Series 8.7 out of 10 for noise and the Voltas 1.5 Ton Vertis Smart Elite Gold 8.3 out of 10. Following you will find how I rated them..
How I tested?
I measured the operating sound in all modes using a decibel meter in a controlled environment with no external noise interference.
Sq ft was…
It was in a 120 sqft closed room to simulate a typical bedroom. For each mode, the ACs were run for 15 minutes before measurement to stabilize.
Blue Star 1.5 Z Smart Wi-Fi Series operating sound level was…
Blue Star has better sound control, with decibel levels as follows: Turbo 45 dB, High 44 dB, Medium 37 dB, Low 34 dB and Silent 30 dB. In practical terms, I tested this during a Zoom meeting and while reading a book and in both cases the sound was minimal, especially in Silent mode.
05. How Loud was each model?
Model | High Speed | 2nd Speed | 3rd Speed | Low Speed |
Blue Star 1 Ton 5 Star | 54.5 dB | 43.1 dB | 31.0 dB | 27.0 dB |

Voltas 1 Ton 5 Star | 44.0 dB | 43.0 dB | 42.0 dB | 38.0 dB |
Voltas 1.5 Ton Vertis Smart Elite Gold Series sound level was…
Voltas produced slightly higher noise in most modes, 46 dB in Turbo, 45 dB in High, 43 dB in Medium, 38 dB in Low and 28 dB in Super Silent. While Super Silent was great during my sleep test, the noise in Medium and Low modes was noticeable when I was working on a laptop in a quiet room.
How they perform in sleep mode?
Blue Star’s Customised Sleep mode which allows you to adjust and set fan speed and temperature hourly over a 12 hour sleep period is a feature not available in Voltas. While Voltas’ Sleep Mode maintains constant cooling, it lacks the granular control that Blue Star offers, which might appeal to users who have varying night time comfort preference.
Outcome analysis.
Blue Star performed better in regular modes, 12% quieter in Medium mode and 10% quieter in Low mode compared to Voltas. Voltas performed only in Super Silent mode, so it’s a mixed bag. Both products have good noise control but Blue Star has a slight edge in overall versatility and customisation.
06. Air filter and dust clean Comparison
I tested Voltas and Blue Star and here are my scores 8.9 out of 10 and 7.2 out of 10 respectively.
Test Methodology
I simulated real world scenarios over a week and tested both products in controlled dusty and humid rooms. I measured the particle count before and after running the AC’s using a PM2.5 meter. I also evaluated the ease of filter maintenance, manual and automated cleaning.
Results and Observations
Voltas delivered clean and hygienic air thanks to its anti-microbial coating on the dust filter. I activated its Ice Wash Technology to test self cleaning.
Do Voltas have automatic self-clean technology?
Ans – Yes.
By pressing the turbo button 4 times to initiate the “SC” (Self-Clean) mode, the AC completed a 12 minute cycle which included ice formation, frosting and ice melting to dislodge the dust particles. After the cycle the particle count in the room dropped by 85%. This feature eliminates the need for frequent manual cleaning, saves time and effort.
Do Bluestar have automatic self-clean technology?
Ans – Not found.
Blue Star required manual removal and cleaning of the filter. Its anti-dust filter reduced the room particle count by 68% but wasn’t as thorough as Voltas’s anti-microbial filtration. Cleaning the Blue Star filter manually took 15 minutes per session and had no automation.
Comparative Analysis
Voltas outperformed Blue Star in air filtration and dust cleaning. Ice Wash Technology with anti-microbial coating reduced the particulate matter by 85% even in high dust conditions. Blue Star didn’t do as well with only 68% reduction in particulate matter and no automation.
Voltas’s score of 8.9 out of 10 reflects its performance, convenience and focus on hygiene. Blue Star’s score of 7.2 out of 10 reflects its decent but less advanced features. For air purity and ease of maintenance Voltas is the winner.
07. Night Time AC usage performance
I tested both the Bluestar 2025 Z SMART and Voltas AC with Sleep Mode technology to see how well they can maintain sleeping conditions for 8 hours.
I tested these units in a 150 square feet room during summer nights, recording temperature stability, noise levels and energy consumption. Bluestar Z SMART scored 8.9/10 for Comfort Sleep feature which raises the temperature by 1 degree over time to adapt to the dropping night temperature.
This gradual adjustment made me sleep comfortably throughout the night.
Is hidden display available on each model?
Ans – Yes.
I also tested its Hidden Display feature which completely turned off the LED light giving me a distraction free environment.
Voltas scored 8.4/10. Sleep mode was whisper quiet but it didn’t adapt as dynamically to temperature changes. Hidden temperature display was sleek and minimal but not completely off like Bluestar’s feature leaving a faint glow which some light sensitive people might find distracting.
I also monitored the sound levels during testing. Bluestar Z SMART maintained an average noise level of 34 dB while Voltas was slightly higher at 35 dB.
Energy consumption during sleep mode was also tested. Voltas used 6% less power than Bluestar for the same 8 hour period making Voltas more economical for extended use at night.
Bluestar outperformed Voltas in night time usability because of its adaptive Comfort Sleep feature, fully hidden display and quieter operation. Voltas was still effective but fell short of completely turning off the display.
